El Caballero de la Salsa: Won Best Latin Tropical Salsa Album


Gilberto Santa Rosa or better known as "El Caballero de la Salsa" (The Gentleman of Salsa) was born on August 21, 1962, a  Puerto Rican bandleader and singer of salsa and bolero. El Caballero de la Salsa  grew up listening to the salsa of the 1950s and '60s.He made his first recording debut  as a backup singer with the Mario Ortiz orchestra. Lately, he met Elias Lopez a professional singer who helped and trained him as a proficient singer.  Gilberto proved passion and give value to the salsa industry  it  was no surprise, then, when he pursued a solo career with Combo Records, one of the leading salsa labels of its time and the rest marked his success as one of the best salsa singer of all times. This year Gilberto won the Tropical Best Salsa Album  for the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards  for Irrepetible. . “Irrepetible” is mostly a duets album, a vast collection of songs, a range of rhythms which includes salsa, a quasi-merengue (wiht Dominican legend Johnny Ventura), a quasi-vallenato (with Colombian Felipe “Pipe” Pelaez), a ballad (with Puerto Rican Kany Garcia). His perfection of a unique style of soneo, invention of Salsa ballads, launched  Gilberto  as a pioneer, making him successful in both the tropical and romantic styles of music. A truly indeed salsa music aficionado!
