TV Roundup: Who Will Win 'Dancing With the Stars?'

Tonight's Dancing With the Stars finale will feature a showdown between underdog Rob Kardashian, dancing diva Ricki Lake, and emotional favorite JR Martinez. The dancing trio will perform four dances: an unlearned dance, their favorite dance, the instant samba, and the freestyle. Who will take home the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on Tuesday night? Let's handicap the contestants.

Why He'll Win: Rob Kardashian is undoubtedly the most improved contestant. He has shown growth every week and has become more and more likable over the course of the season.

Why He Won't Win: He's the only finalist that has never scored a perfect 30. It's hard to imagine Rob beating out Ricki and JR, who looked like favorites from the very beginning.

Secret Weapon: His booty shaking. He is a Kardashian after all.

Ricki Lake

Why She'll Win: Ricki Lake has been the most consistent contestant and she's also spent the most time at the top of the leader board.

Why She Won't Win: That consistency may be her downfall since the finale audience may be looking for a bit more wow from Ricki. She's had a fantastic season but she might not have enough pizzazz for the final push to win the Mirror Ball.

Secret Weapon: Her partner Derek Hough, who has won three times before and is definitely the best choreographer left in the competition.

JR Martinez

Why He'll Win: He's charming, talented, and he's got a great backstory (he suffered burns to 40% of his body after his Humvee hit a landmine in Iraq). He's also scored several perfect 30s with partner Karina Smirnoff. The smart money is definitely on JR Martinez.

Why He Won't Win: Martinez could falter if his twisted ankle is still bothering him. It would be a shame after such a great season, but sometimes injuries can't be helped.

Secret Weapon: His tragic backstory. Martinez has brought the DWTS audience to tears before and if he can do it again, the Mirror Ball trophy will definitely be his.

'Dancing With the Stars': Hope Solo cuts and runs

Hope Solo and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskivy were eliminated from "Dancing With the Stars" in the semi-final round. But unlike other weeks, reporters didn't get to speak to the latest ousted couple. After one interview, Hope was so upset that she burst into tears and refused to do more. Maks didn't show up on the press line either.

Zap2it was told that we would get a chance to speak to her by phone in the coming days. It's certainly understandable that she would be choked up after getting this far, but all of the other contestants managed to hold it together.

There might be more to it though. Hope and Maks didn't get to do the traditional exit tour with stops at "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and the following morning's "Good Morning America."  According to THR, it was the network's decision to instead promote finalists J.R. Martinez, Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake and send them to the shows instead.

So, why the change? We'll be asking when we hit the press line at the finals on Monday, November 21st. We can't wait to see who deserves to win and we are finally getting more excited now from your Salsa circuit fan and follow zap2it for more fantastics celebrity news.

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Kicks Off Tonight

The thirteenth season of Dancing With The Stars premieres tonight with a fresh cast of victims participants including actor David Arquette, model Elisabetta Canalis, talk show host Ricki Lake (who has already injured herself), TV host Nancy Grace, soccer star Hope Solo, and reality show thing Robert Kardashian.

Less famous names enduring DWTS’s ritual humiliation include Wilson Phillips, singer Chynna Phillips, Italian TV personality Elisabetta Canalis (perhaps best known for her relationship with George Clooney), and a chap called Carson Kressley, who Wikipedia informs me is a “fashion expert.” So there you go.

The name on everybody’s lips, however, is smiley Chaz Bono (above), the one-time daughter of Cher, who underwent sex change surgery and is now her son. Only last week, Bono was keen to point out his involvement won’t mean your kids will be corrupted for ever. It’s pretty damn ridiculous that he had to even point this out, but there you go. Said Chaz:

“People who don’t have gender dysphoria aren’t going to catch it by watching me dance on television. I’m going to be dancing. I’m not up there talking about anything other than dancing.”

Er, apparently this is an issue for some people in a developed nation in 2011?

Anyway, tonight’s opening episode airs at 8pm on ABC, and will see the various celebrity hangers-on and desperadoes attempting the pasa doble, salsa, and other dance disciplines. Tom Bergeron is back to host.

So, who’s watching? And more importantly, which pair are you backing?
