Eva Longoria, Eduardo Cruz tour his Madrid stomping ground

Actress Eva Longoria took a break from shooting 'The Boytown Disco' to meet up with her boyfriend Eduardo Cruz in Madrid. And Cruz quite literally took her by the hand for a guided tour of Spain's majestic capitol city.

Penelope Cruz's little brother made sure his actress girlfriend got to see his hometown as likely the best tour guide a girl could have. And like the best tour guides, Cruz too her to some of Madrid's most iconic places, such as el Palacio Real, la Plaza de Cibeles, la Puerta de Alcalá, the popular Parque del Retiro, la Plaza de Oriente and others.

The couple appear to be getting tighter and tigher, sailing strong on each others' arm. On this trip, the Mexican actress took exception to spend time with Cruz's family, according to Hola.com.

Although many bet on the relationship running amok, particularly because of the 10-year age difference between them, Eva is said to now be part of the family. According to media outlets in Spain, Eva is not only close to Eduardo's oldest sister and fellow actress Penelope, but also Eduardo's other sister Monica, who is also an actress. Eva and Monica have been seen dining out in Los Angeles on more than one occasion. Monica was also one of the first in the Cruz family to welcome Eva into the fold.

Another memorable moment of the visit was dinner out on Tuesday with Eduardo's sister Penelope and Oscar-winning husband Javier Bardem. The four dined at the exclusive 'El Caceron de Aracely' up in the mountains of Madrid. The restaurant is a hot spot for celebrities and politicians alike.

The four were seen chatting at ease in the mountain getaway, which no doubt led to an exquisite sampling of local cuisine.
Penelope wore a tight red dress and heels during a break with her husband from maternal duties. In January, Penelope gave birth to the couple's first child, Leo, in Los Angeles.

This isn't Eva's first trip to her beau's homeland. She's been there before shooting on location for work. Something it appears this visit most definitely was not.

Mexican University President Say He'll Go Where He's Needed: To Educate Latinos in U.S.

Madrid –  The president of Mexico's prestigious Tecnologico de Monterrey university, Rafael Rangel Sostmann, said here Monday that he plans to found a center at Georgetown University to promote higher education among U.S. Hispanics.

The new venture in Washington is one of the projects Rangel Sostmann will tackle after concluding his tenure at Monterrey Tec, he told reporters in Madrid after signing an agreement with several Spanish universities to create a joint master's degree program in Ibero-American journalism.

"I hope my successor (in Monterrey) is designated within the next few months so I can dedicate myself to these other matters," he said.

"The Hispanic in the U.S. is not reaching university, the first generations of immigrants are not completing their studies. We want to make an effort for them to achieve that," said Rangel Sostmann, who became president of Monterrey Tec in 1985.

More broadly, he said he plans to use the new institution at Washington's Georgetown University as the hub of a "virtual space" linking all of Monterrey Tec's community education centers in Mexico, the United States and Latin America.

"And we will also conduct a reflection about the mission of the university at the present moment. I feel it has to go outside its walls and integrate more with the community to carry out truly transformative projects," Rangel Sostmann said.

Elderly Madrid Man Builds Incredible Spanish Cathedral Entirely From Trash

This extraordinary cathedral made from salvaged materials has steadily risen over the past 50 years in a quiet Madrid neighborhood. Justo Martinez (who goes by Don Justo) has been working on the massive undertaking nearly single-handedly ever since he had to leave an order of monks due to illness. After recovering, he dedicated his life to building a church using his own money, on his own land. The massive undertaking is built almost entirely from local materials that he is able to salvage, and now topped out at 131 feet the cathedral just needs a few finishing touches — like a roof, some windows and permits.

While the cathedral’s design is loosely based on St. Peter’s Cathedral, Don Justo has created no formal drawings or engineering plans. His background in farming did not stop him from taking on such a challenging project, which incorporates motifs found in castles, churches, and even the White House. Most of the bricks are salvaged from nearby brick factories, and cathedral’s walls are certainly unorthodox. This video won the ‘special mention’ award at rutger hauers www.icfilms.org international filmfestival in milano 2010. thanks again for this wonderful recognition

Inzending voor de Korte Film competitie van het Nederlands Online Filmfestival NOFF 2009, onderdeel van het NFF in Utrecht.

A short movie about Don Justo Gallego, an 85 year old former monk in Spain. 50 years ago he started to build a cathedral on his own after he almost died. Not bothered by heat, cold, rain, wind, Don Justo works 6 days a week, 12 hours a day to follow his devotion. Filmmaker Maria Heidemann shows a portrait of this man who never gives up in an integer, almost intimate way. Unique pictures of Don Justo at work: full of determination and in his weakest moments. A film that touches the heart of the spectator.
