J.Lo & Marc Anthony Dance Around Divorce in Upcoming Reality Show

Hands up: Who became a lot more excited about "¡Q'Viva! The Chosen"--the upcoming Latin American talent-search show helmed by Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller--once it was revealed that the show would go on despite J.Lo and Marc's divorce? I had previously figured that, since I didn't find J.Lo's softball critiques or Marc's detailed in-ear-monitor tutorials on "Idol" all that fascinating this year, I had no need to tune in to their own reality venture. But I sure as heck plan to set my DVR now, especially now that I've seen the latest trailer.

The Lopez-Anthonys decided to end their seven-year marriage back in July, but shortly thereafter confirmed to Deadline.com via a rep for Fuller's XIX Entertainment that "they're both committed to '¡Q'Viva!'" (if not to each other). The forthcoming series will depict the ex-power couple conducting an international talent search in 21 countries across Latin America with superstar choreographer Jamie King. No word yet on whether it will also depict the meltdown of their marriage, but the two have filmed scenes together since their split. The new trailer above in fact features footage of their recent joint trip to Puerto Rico, including a scene depicting J.Lo dancing with some of the show's contestants while Marc watches from the sidelines. It's a big contrast to that notorious "Idol" finale performance back in May, when Jennifer sexily danced with Marc.

I am sure many viewers, myself included, will be closely scrutinizing any pre-separation footage, already in the can, for signs that Marc and Jennifer's reunion was in trouble. And we'll probably all be watching the post-divorce footage for any "War Of The Roses"-style battles or cameos by Jennifer's new much-younger boyfriend, Caspar Smart. Interestingly, Deadline.com reported earlier this year that the drama surrounding J.Lo and Marc's breakup was to likely help line up distributors for the show, which didn't have a confirmed network at the time. I'm sure it will help line up advertisers and viewers, too. I bet TV conspiracy theorists have already assumed the separation announcement was just a publicity stunt for the show, even. I'm sure it's not...but if it was, it'd be genius.

"¡Q'Viva!" premieres January 28 on the Spanish-language station Univision, just 10 days after the Season 11 "American Idol" premiere; the show's English-language station will be announced in January. Are you more likely to watch "¡Q'Viva! The Chosen" more than you were before?

Marc Anthony setting his sights on hot Mexican model

Rumors come and go, and although it's only been a few weeks since there was talk of a possible connection between Marc Anthony and Mexican singer-actress Sandra Echevarria, now that Jennifer Lopez's ex was on tour in Mexico, it turns out that it's not Echevarria whose caught his eye, but another young Mexican that could be making the singer think twice about love, or at least lust.

Now that reports have surfaced that Jennifer Lopez is dating 24-year-old dancer Casper Smart, Marc appears to have his sights on another Mexican, 28-year-old Adriana Ontiveros, according to Mexican magazine Quien.

The sexy -- and busty -- Guadalajaran model presumably met Anthony through mutual friend and singer Alejandro Fernandez, with whom she collaborated on the music video for Fernandez's song 'Se Me Va La Voz' (I Lose My Voice).

Recent reports say Marc Anthony and J Lo. hooked up this past weekend in Puerto Rico, while the former couple were scouting for talent for their new reality show, 'Q'Viva! The Chosen.' AOL Latino will keep you posted on any developments.

Rumor Alert: Jennifer Lopez Has a New Man

The first Jennifer Lopez dating rumors after her split from Marc Anthony suggested she'd cozied up with dreamy actor Bradley Cooper, but turns out they're just friends. Now, insiders say she's been dating dancer Casper Smart for a few weeks. He's "popular with the ladies because he goes shirtless," says a source (via Us magazine).

Smart has had dancing roles in flicks such as Honey 2 and Step Up 3D and most recently was one of the judge's dancers on American Idol. Smart tweeted Friday: "In San Fran about his the stage with JLO! [With] JLO and the dope JLO dancers. LEGGO!"

So, we know they at least know each other, but, of course, there's no confirmation that they're actually dating. You might be able to count the fact that they were spotted out together in NYC earlier this month as semi-legitimate evidence...

We're hesitant to call this a budding relationship, and even sources say there's "nothing serious" between the two, but we are glad to hear the star is getting back out there in the dating game. We're just hoping she doesn't go off any marry him right away like she did with the last backup dancer. J.Lo and Cris Judd dated for just a few months before getting hitched in September 2001. They divorced the following June.

Jennifer Lopez in Tears On Stage

Jennifer Lopez became overwrought with emotion while singing about her past relationships during a performance in New Jersey over the weekend.

The 42-year-old, who recently split from her husband Marc Anthony, broke down in tears during a rendition of her hit song, Until It Beats No More.

"I'm going to sing you the last song I wrote about love," Lopez told the sell-out audience at Mohegan Sun casino in Montville on Saturday night. "A lot has changed since then."

As she sang, male dancers resembling her exes Cris Judd, Ben Affleck and Sean "Diddy" Combs, came on-stage and performed with a lookalike of Lopez.

A couple then came on and re-enacted the dance Lopez and Anthony performed on American Idol last May, just weeks before they announced their separation.

At the end of the song, Lopez told the audience, "I took a trip down memory lane" and held up a photo of her three-year-old twins Max and Emme, saying, "There's love, and then there's love."

She then began to sob on-stage, but reportedly held it together enough to perform a few last songs.

Lopez's seven-year marriage to Anthony (above, second photo) ended last July. She has since been linked to actor Bradley Cooper.

Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony’s New Show to Air on Univision, Televisa

Their marriage maybe long over, but Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s ¡Q’VIVA The Chosen talent competition is moving forward after Univision and Televisa confirm they are among the multiple networks on board to broadcast the reality show.

XIX Entertainment announced on Wednesday that “Univision in the U.S., Televisa in Mexico, and Caracol TV in Colombia,” are the first three confirmed network homes, out of 21, where ¡Q’VIVA! The Chosen will be shown. The other networks will be announced at a later date.

Lopez and Marc Anthony called it quits July of this year after seven years of marriage. The superstar celebs share 3-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Nevertheless, the show must go on.

Simon Fuller, who along with Lopez and Marc Anthony is producing the show, said in a statement that ¡Q’VIVA! The Chosen is a “growing importance of Latin culture.”

“¡Q’VIVA! The Chosen will be a spectacular showcase of Latin music and performance arts,” Fuller said.

The show is slated to air in 21 countries through Latin America in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Lopez, Marc Anthony and veteran choreographer Jaime King are scheduled to begin production for the series this month up until January of 2012.

“Very soon the world’s heart will beat to the tune of Latin rhythms and we’re looking forward to experiencing history in the making,” Lopez said in a statement. “It is with great pride that we embark on this amazing and very personal mission to discover and celebrate the most captivating talent the world has ever seen.”

Marc Anthony, who earlier this week twitted multiple photos of himself in Mexico auditioning ¡Q’VIVA! The Chosen prospects, said he is “thrilled” to “open doors for the next generation of Latin superstars” and to have “the beauty of Latin music, artistry, and dance” seen by a mass audience.

Jennifer Lopez And Marc Anthony Increase Sales At Kohl's

We are glad Kohl's understands our market power! Today the department mega store announced that they have experienced a key revenue increase of 4.1 percent due to its new Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony clothing lines, which launched in the beginning of September. During the past five weeks ending on October 1st, the total revenue of the franchise totaled $1.63 billion.

We were wondering how the estranged couple would handle their new lines and perhaps the separation has something to do with its positive feedback. Jennifer and Marc have been handling the development and marketing campaigns separately, which also appears to be working in their favor.

In regards to their line, Marc told Life & Style:

"I always had Jennifer as a sounding board and vice versa. I'm really happy about her line; I saw all the work that she put into it."

Her creativity is definitely a money maker!

Report: Jennifer Lopez and Bradley Cooper Go on a Date

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have yet to officially divorce, but that doesn't mean this hot mama isn't moving on yet. TMZ reports she's back in the dating game, with none other than Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper.

Apparently the two enjoyed a "romantic" dinner date at Per Se in NYC last night. Sources say they dined alone and looked pretty cozy.

Now, of course, these two could just be friends. They could be working on a movie together. They could be launching a fashion line. The possibilities are endless. But, it's much more fun to imagine they're beautiful people falling in love, right?

Well, before anyone thinks J.Lo and B. Coop are the next A-list item, know that the charming actor has been linked to more than a few stars this summer. He supposedly wooed Olivia Wilde just weeks ago. Before that, he was linked to a hot brunette named Stacey. And, before settling down with Renee Zellweger for two years, he romanced Jennifer Aniston, Denise Richards, and other Hollywood beauties.

As for Ms. Lopez, she's more of a long-term relationship/marriage kind of gal. She dated P. Diddy for years, married Chris Judd, was engaged to Ben Affleck, and finally married Marc Anthony in 2004. Maybe she wouldn't be into Cooper's serial dater ways. Or maybe it's just the change she's looking for. Stay tuned.

Salsa lovers look forward to 'voice from the mountain'

St. Paul, Minn. — Salsa singer Marc Anthony takes the stage tonight at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand, a show that is a must-see for Latin music fans. It's also a big deal for Minnesota's growing Latino community.

Many people may only know Anthony for his acting and ill-fated marriage to actress Jennifer Lopez. But in the Spanish-speaking world the Puerto Rican singer is an international superstar who has sold 11 million albums.

Anthony became a phenomenon in the 1980s, first in dance music and then in salsa. He built a following with his booming voice, dramatic delivery and urban style — especially in New York's Spanish Harlem, where he was born.

The singer's music captivated young Latinos across the country, including local hip-hop artist Maria Isa. His records helped bridge the gap between the more traditional music her Puerto Rican parents enjoyed and the hip-hop and rap she listened to, such as hardcore groups like the Wu-Tang Clan.

"You know Marc Anthony would be blasting at the same time Wu Tang was blasting, so you had that vibe. That was something you could listen to in your home, without your parents saying, 'Mira quitame esa musica (Take off that music, we want to hear our stuff).' " "So he allowed our generation to keep the soul."

Isa's favorite Marc Anthony song is "Nadie Como Ella," or "No One Like Her."

"He's just talking about respecting his women as far as like, not just trying to holler at her but pouring his heart out, saying "I need to be with you," she said.

" 'Nadie Como Ella,' when I first heard him sing that I think I was twelve years old, just being like at the concert like oh my God, he's so powerful and he's got that gripping voice, Isa said. "That's a power, that's a blessing and that was passed down.

"That's 'montaña,' we call it 'la voz de la montaña,' 'the voice from the mountain.' "

Isa was at the last two Marc Anthony concerts at the Orpheum and Target Center.

"I only see this as a representation as saying things are getting better because we can go and see salsa at the State Fair, where 30 years ago you were only going to be able to maybe hear some funk and call it diversity."

Isa and other salsa lovers will be there tonight - dancing to a tropical beat.

Jennifer Lopez on American Idol, Marriage to Marc Anthony: Tiring!

It may not have been evident based on her energetic, steamy performance on the season 10 finale of American Idol, but Jennifer Lopez now admits:

She was exhausted, personally and professionally, this spring.

"I got a little bit tired at the end with everything going on in my life at the time," J. Lo told reporters in Savannah, Georgia yesterday.

The singer was on hand to address season 11 of Idol and confirm that she, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler would all be returning to the judges' table.

Referring to the gig as "one of the best things I've ever been involved with" Lopez said she did need a bit of time to settle her divorce from Marc Anthony and psych herself up to return but then "I was like, 'Okay, I'm gonna do it again.'"

Millions of viewers are very happy she arrived at that decision.

Marc Anthony Is ‘Begging’ Jennifer Lopez To Take Him Back! Will She Do It?

Marc Anthony was reportedly controlling over Jennifer Lopez and jealous of her career, but now he wants her back in his life! He’s even trying to draw out the divorce!

Jennifer Lopez recently revealed that Marc Anthony wasn’t treating her right and said she loved herself enough to walk away from the situation. Multiple reports claim Marc was controlling and possessive over Jennifer, as well as being jealous of her career which re-launched with American Idol. Now, he seems to regret his actions and he’s reportedly begging for her to get back together!“[Marc's] mood shifts from blaming her to begging her to take him back to telling her she is destroying his life,” a source close to Jennifer revealed to Us Weekly.

And apparently, that’s not all. Marc is trying to draw the divorce out as long as possible so that he has more time to convince J. Lo it’s a bad idea! “He’s being difficult on every little point…He wants to prolong things so she reconsiders,” the insider said.

But, at least for now, Jennifer isn’t budging. Her friend tells Us she is “happy” and “surrounded by love” although she’s found it upsetting to deal with Marc and his mood swings.

If Jennifer is done with the marriage Marc should just let go, don’t you agree? Or should she try to make it work?

Jennifer Lopez Speaks About Marc Anthony Split

That didn’t take long!

For the first time, Jennifer Lopez opens up to Vanity Fair about her failed marriage to Marc Anthony. The divorce was announced pretty recently, so the timing seems very convenient for the pop singer.

According to Lopez, she tried her best to keep her relationship from falling apart, but soon realized that it was so over.

“That was my biggest dream, and I really worked hard at it,” says Lopez. “We both did. Sometimes it doesn’t work-and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love. It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive-determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.”

Despite the breakup, Lopez claims that she holds no grudges against Anthony. “I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” she explains. “We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic-and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”

Jennifer Lopez's Next Beau? William Levy Leads P. Diddy, Charlie Sheen on Online Betting Site

William Levy? P. Diddy? Even Charlie Sheen? Those are the celebrities you can put money on when it comes to a very special wager:

Who will win J.Lo's heart?

Irish online betting site Paddy Power has created a novelty bet called "J.Lo's next boyfriend," where amateur cupids can bet on who they think will be Jennifer López's next beau after her shocking divorce from Marc Anthony.

Novela heartthrob William Levy – no surprise here! – leads the pack at 8/11 odds after rumors heated up about a possible relationship between him and the Puerto Rican star.

Levy broke his silence about his relationship with López but that hasn't stopped the story from spreading after their steamy video shoot in Mexico for her song, "I'm Into You."

Next up, bookies have J.Lo's ex-boyfriend Sean "P. Diddy" Combs at 11/4 odds to get her back. The odds may have something to do with recent reports that López and Diddy had dinner together in New York.

The site says that the bet "applies to the first romantic relationship officially confirmed by a spokesperson for Jennifer Lopez by end 2012 following her split from her husband."

Actor Bradley Cooper (12-1), Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.am (16-1) and Ryan Reynolds (20-1) round out the top five of bachelors López might be inclined to pick from.

Other notables are Pitbull (25-1), who was featured in her video for "On the Floor," Simon Cowell (33-1), who left American Idol and created an opening for López, and the wacky Charlie Sheen, who recently snagged a sitcom deal with TBS and is a dark horse for her hand at 200-1 odds.

Paddy Power spokesperson Sharon McHugh talked to BettingPro, a betting site, about the novelty bet.

"I think everyone was shocked to hear of J-Lo's marriage breakdown but we're sure she won't be long getting her famous booty in gear and finding a new love," McHugh said. "She always bounces back!"

But that doesn't mean that all hope is lost for her soon-to-be ex-husband.

The site declares, "Bets void if she reunites with Marc Anthony."

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Battling Over $250 Million Fortune?

The gloves are off in the Jennifer Lopez, 42,  and Marc Anthony, 42, divorce.  Apparently the two are ready to do battle over the $250 million dollar fortune she has.  When Jennifer and Marc married in 2004 they signed no prenuptial agreements because of course they never thought their marriage would end.  So Jennifer may have to fork some off her fortune over to Marc.

National Enquirer has the scoop: “And even though the macho singer is worth about $60 million himself, insiders expect him to go after Jennifer’s much larger bank account. There was no prenuptial agreement when they got hitched in 2004, so she could be on the hook for as much $125 million.  But her attorneys will undoubtedly argue that Marc made tens of millions himself and that she shouldn’t have to pay a dime.”

Rumor has it the marriage broke up because Jennifer could not take any more of the fighting in their marriage.  When Jennifer signed to do another season of American Idol and a summer movie she was defying Marc and that was the end of their marriage.    Marc’s career is no where near  Jennifer’s and Marc was apparently jealous.  Marc wanted Jennifer to do a reality show with him so he could boost his career.

Marc has more problems in the future he is said to owe the IRS $3.4 million in back taxes and he could go after Jennifer to help him pay for it.  The battle is about to begin!

9 Hollywood Breakups: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly!

There are exactly three types of Hollywood breakups: good, bad, and downright ugly! And the recent news of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's sudden breakup (which the singers have handled amicably!)—got us thinking about other high-profile breakups that took the world by surprise. To quote the ultimate relationship show, Sex and the City: "There really is no good way to break up with someone, is there?"

Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman

Ended: October 14, 2010

Status: Bad Breakup

Why: The call's coming from inside the house! After Christina Aguilera filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Jordan Bratman last year (citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split), Jordan refused to move out of their Beverly Hills mansion, even though it was owned by Christina. It took the stubborn Jordan about five months to pack his bags and during that time, Christina had to find someplace else to stay with their 2-year-old son, Max. Luckily, Christina had a prenuptial agreement that protected her earnings from Bratman—whom she married in November of 2005—otherwise the Ecuadorian singer may have lost a ton of money as well in the split.

Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake

Ended: 2007

Status: The Good.

Why: After breaking up in 2007, Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake rebounded pretty quickly with Jessica Biel and Alex Rodriguez. Neither of them trashed each other in the tabloids, and this year, they really proved they are not holding a grudge about the breakup when Justin played Cameron's love interest in the irreverent comedy, Bad Teacher. "I guess the real truth is that they're good friends," said Jake Kasdan, the movie's director, who added that JT and Cameron even managed to get through a hilarious sex scene together. "They got in there and started doing it. And it was so funny, we just couldn't stop shooting it. And we were doing it almost the whole day. And really crying, laughing at the [video] monitors,' he said.

Don Omar & Jackie Guerrido

Ended: February, 2011

Status: The Ugly.

Why: In the 4 years they were together, Don Omar and Jackie Guerrido were both accused of cheating on each other. Rumors surfaced that they would have screaming matches at the Univision studios where Jackie works as a weather girl, and Don Omar even threatened her via Twitter: “It’s been more than 10 months since I hear from you thanks to your lies and the mediocre people you work with. You have 72 hours to get everything back to normal without this affecting anyone else. Otherwise, you will all know what I am capable of when you disrespect me in the way you all have," he tweeted. No wonder Jackie's forecasts always call for thunder and lightning!

Adrienne Bailon & Rob Kardashian

Ended: March, 2009

Status: The Good.

Why: They were endearing together on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but when Rob Kardashian cheated on Adrienne Bailon in March of 2009, the former Cheeta Girl ended their 2-year relationship. Still, even after he betrayed her, Adrienne remained good friends with Rob's sisters: Kim, Khloe and Courtney Kardashian

Daisy Fuentes & Matt Goss

Ended: January, 2010

Status: The Bad.

Why: When Daisy Fuentes ended her 12-year-long relationship with singer Matt Goss last year, reports surfaced that the Cuban TV host had been cheating on her long-time partner with her ex-lover, Luis Miguel. After their split, Matt pretty much admitted to RadarOnline.com that he had been had. "We had a long and loving relationship. This came as a shock especially when you think you really know someone," he said.

Eddie Cibrian & Brandi Glanville

Ended: March, 2009

Status: The Ugly

Why: After Cuban actor, Eddie Cibrian and country singer, LeAnn Rimes were caught having an affair in March of 2009 (while they were both married to other people), Brandi Glanville, Cibrian's wife of eight years, began trashing her husband and Rimes in interviews with various tabloids. She made fun of Cibrian's unemployment status as an actor, and essentially called him a hypocrite to the press, telling People.com that he's "just somebody I don't know." She added: "You think you know one thing and you wake up and it's all been a lie." Glanville also issued a public warning to Rimes: “He’s a cheater, he’s going to cheat forever," she said.
Shakira & Antonio de la Rua

Ended: January, 2011

Status: The Good.

Why: After 10 years together, Shakira and her boyfriend, Antonio de la Rua broke up in January of this year. The singer blogged about the breakup on her website. "They have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners. However, since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship," she wrote. Despite the fact that they're no longer together, Shaki and Antonio still work together: "Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done," Shakira wrote. "We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication.

Dayanara Torres & Marc Anthony

Ended: January, 2004

Status: The Bad

Why: For their wedding on May 9, 2000, Marc Anthony surprised Dayanara Torres by chartering two private jets and taking her to Las Vegas for an impromptu midnight ceremony in front of 15 guests. Cute, right? Too bad the honeymoon was short-lived. The couple, who shares two sons (Cristian Anthony Muñiz and Ryan Anthony Muñiz), went on to separate twice before Torres finally filed for divorce in 2004. Just four days after the divorce became final, Marc tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez in Los Angeles—that couldn't have made Dayanara happy. In 2008, Dayanara co-wrote a self-help book titled Married to Me: How Committing to Myself Led to Triumph After Divorce, in which she gave advice about finding happiness after divorce.
Kelis & Nas

Ended: 2009

Status: The Ugly.

Why: Since their breakup in 2009, Kelis has accused Nas of abandoning her during her pregnancy, and she has asked for child support, spousal support, and attorney fees and costs from Nas. The more money Kelis asks for, the farther apart they drift.

Marc Anthony delights salsa fans in Ecuador

Quito –  Salsa star Marc Anthony captivated more than 20,000 fans in the Ecuadorian capital with a show packed with explosive energy.

Some of his all-time hits like "Contra la Corriente" (Against the Current), "Valio la Pena" (It Was Worth It), and "Tu Amor Me Hace Bien" (Your Love Does Me Good), backed by a powerful band of a dozen musicians, connected the salsa singer with his diverse audience in a somewhat short concert - less than 15 numbers - but one that unquestionably rocked.

With "Aguanile," by salsa innovator Hector Lavoe, he kicked off a show marked by the dramatics and daring stage presence that was all Marc Anthony, all seduction and kissing the ladies, that motion gone wild of hips, hands and head all over the stage.

Such overwhelming energy excited the audience with hits like "Y Hubo Alguien" (And There Was Someone) and "Vivir lo Nuestro" (Doing Our Thing), added to such provocations as "Se Van Calentando...Verdad?" (They're Getting Hot...Right?)

A pretty inappropriate idea under the circumstances, since the cold, rainy weather all Thursday afternoon soaked the concert site at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium and at times turned the hardy audience into a sea of ponchos and umbrellas.

"Enjoyment is something you have inside, people shouldn't be put off by the rain," two excited friends named Fernanda and Fernanda said about their chance to see the singer perform live for the first time.

"Forget the umbrellas, we've got to throw away the umbrellas and dance," said Monica, another of the singer's fans who was there with her husband.

Wearing an elegant black suit accented by a silver necklace and a huge ring on one hand, the singer from Harlem of Puerto Rican origin referred to his mixed roots by leading into songs like "Esos" (Those Guys) and "Arriba Mi Gente" (Up With My People) with his standard introductory line "Check it out."

The vindictive "Te Conozco Bien" (I Know You Well) in which the singer replies to a girlfriend who is "sorry" she left him for another man, was bellowed deafeningly by the audience.

But after the vinegar came the sugary sweet "Tu Amor Me Hace Bien" (Your Love Does Me Good) to close the concert as the perfect prelude to a weekend between the sheets.

Jennifer Lopez, and 'guest,' snag a seat with William and Kate at BAFTA gala

One of Hollywood's hottest events is by design un-American. It is after all the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' biggest night, which awards Britain's version of the Oscars. And everyone knows this year, BAFTA's gala has gone royal, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge -- newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton to us commoners -- among its prestigious VIPs.

But the buzz over who will accompany the Duke and Duchess at their table appears to be overshadowing the awards themselves. Some of us wonder why that's so important, apart from the obvious royal connection, but here's why: The Duke is the king of BAFTA -- its president.

And it's no surprise that this year, heavyweight Jennifer Lopez is among the honorary guests at the royal table. The showbiz diva is hitting a high note, not only in the recording industry but also on television, as 'American Idol's,' compassionate, yet assertive, female judge in its trifecta. Lopez, along with singing megastar and husband Marc Anthony and leading concert director Jaime King, is also set to launch 'Q'Viva The Chosen,' a 21-country search for the world's best musicians, dancers, singers, street performers and artists from Latin America.

Lopez's achievements are not to be understated, however, with record sales estimated at 55 million worldwide. Not bad for a girl from "the block" in the Bronx. Add record producer, dancer, television personality and producer, and fashion designer to the mix, and there's not much Jennifer Lopez hasn't done since she began her career as a dancer in the television comedy 'In Living Color' in 1991.

J. Lo, 41, and Marc Anthony, 42, met the royals just after July Fourth to discuss the Latino power couple's attendance Saturday night at the show at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Prince William is scheduled to deliver a brief speech at the star-studded event.

According to the 'Daily Mail,' the cost for a table at the event is around $16,000. Other notably christened attendees are Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Paul Rudd, Jason Reitman, Ryan Reynolds and Barbra Streisand.
