TELEMUNDO LAUNCHES YOUTUBE TELEMUNDO AND MUN2 CHANNELS

For the First Time, the Networks Will Premiere Select Content on YouTube

MIAMI – October 5, 2011 – Telemundo announced today that it will launch two YouTube channels dedicated exclusively to Telemundo and mun2 content. The two YouTube channels, designed to promote viewership on its linear networks, will feature clips and short-form programming.

In a network first, Telemundo weekly novela summaries will be available with English subtitles, designed for the Spanish and bilingual novela fan, as well as daily novela clips in Spanish. Additionally, Telemundo will launch the YouTube mun2 channel, which will include mun2 promotional clips and mun2.tv original bilingual content.

“We are thrilled that our platform will help create and foster connections between Telemundo’s wonderful content and the large and dynamic group of Hispanic users currently active on YouTube,” said Rodrigo Velloso, head of Hispanic and Latin American content at YouTube.

“We are excited to partner with YouTube to share clips of Telemundo’s compelling original content with an even broader online audience,” said Peter Blacker, executive vice president, digital media & emerging business, Telemundo. “We know our fans are tremendously engaged with video content, and dedicated network channels on YouTube will allow the networks to connect with current fans of our programming, while attracting a new fan base as well.”

In August 2011, Telemundo.com ranked as one of the top three most “engaged” video experiences among all television networks, regardless of language, according to comScore. The site also ranked highest for “viewers” engagement among other Spanish-language websites, as measured by the number of videos per viewer, minutes per viewer, minutes per visit and total minutes.

Telemundo.com is one of the top three television network websites across several key categories. The site reports an average of 22.8 videos per viewer and 83.1 minutes per viewer. Telemundo.com delivered more than double the number of videos per viewer than Univision.com, as well as almost five times more minutes per viewer, three times more minutes per visit, twice the number of minutes per video and 17MM more total minutes spent with video.

5 Epic Latino Rivalries

Earlier this week, when a judge sided with Jennifer Lopez to block the release of a video by her ex-husband Ojani Noa, another round in the J.Lo vs. Ojani rivalry came to an end, with Lopez as the victor. But Lopez and Noa's rivalry has been going on for 13 years, so we're guessing that this wont be the last time these two square off in court. And watching Noa continue to try and destroy Lopez got us thinking about other epic Latino rivalries in Hollywood. Here are five that are unforgettable.

Daisy Fuentes and Mariah Carey

Here's what went down: While Luis Miguel was dating Daisy Fuentes, the playboy singer cheated on Daisy with Mariah Carey. And in 1998, he also dumped Fuentes, his girlfriend of three years, for Carey. Something tells us Daisy's not a big fan of Mimi's music.

Jennifer Lopez vs. Ojani Noa

They tied the knot in 1997 and untied the same knot 11 months later. Since then, Jennifer Lopez and her ex-husband Ojani Noa have been involved in one of the most bitter rivalries of all-time! In 2006, when Ojani tried to publish a tell-all book about their marriage, Lopez sued him and won over $500,00 in compensatory damages. She sued him again in 2009 for $10 million when he attempted to release a film called How I married Jennifer Lopez: The JLo and Ojani Noa Story. Most recently, Noa tried to release a video tape of Lopez as a movie, but last Friday, an appeals court sided with J.Lo and ordered that an invasion of privacy lawsuit she filed against her first husband be handled in arbitration rather than through a public court case. While their latest fight is over, something tells us this rivalry isn't. Talk about unhappily ever after!

Univision vs. Telemundo

Univision's got the hit reality show, Nuestra Belleza Latina, Telemundo's got the top-rated telenovela La Reina del Sur and they've both got one big problem: each other! While Univision is considered the Spanish-language giant and has announced plans to launch three new networks by 2012, Telemundo is hot on the network's heels as the second-largest Spanish-language network in the United States. This spring, Telemundo even managed to steal "The Latina Oprah" (Christina Saralegui) from Univision, which should bode well for the network's ratings next year. On January 28th, 2011, Comcast completed a $6.5 billion dollar deal acquisition of a 51% majority stake in NBC Universal, acquiring control of Telemundo as part of the deal, so don't be surprised if Telemundo eventually dethrones Univision.

Perez Hilton vs. Carrie Prejean

The Queen of all Media has had plenty of rivals in Hollywood, including Black Eyed Peas singer, Will.i.am, Miley Cyrus, Rumer Willis and Lindsay Lohan, but his rivalry with Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean in 2009 is the Cuban blogger's most epic public fight. It all started when Perez served as a guest judge during the Miss USA pageant, and asked Prejean a question about same-sex marriage. Prejean replied that marriage should be between a man and a woman, and Perez, who thought the answer was homophobic, proceeded to blast Prejean daily on his website, Perezhilton.com, calling her answer the 'worst answer in pageant history," and calling her a dumb bi***." Ouch.

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato vs. Miley Cyrus

In 2009, best friends Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato made funny videos on youtube together where they danced, and joked around for hours. While we thought the videos were very funny and cute, there was someone who wasn't so impressed with them: Miley Cyrus. Cyrus and her best friend Mandy Jiroux must not have liked the attention Selena and Demi were getting, because they posted a video in which they mocked and imitated Demi and Selena, making fun of their outfits and their physical appearance.

Girlfriend of J Lo.'s 'I'm Into You' video heartthrob announces separation

William Levy is one of the Hispanic world's men of the moment. There's not a telenovela, series or television show in the Hispanic market that doesn't want the actor and Cuban model. In fact, Jennifer Lopez even invited him to shoot her latest video, 'I'm Into You,' from Mexico, where the actor has gained a huge foothold in his acting career.

But as much as Hispanic media loves William Levy, his reputation has plagued him as a womanizer. For years, his partner, Mexican actress Elizabeth Gutierrez, who is also mother to Levy's two kids, has had to endure and confront rumors and reports of alleged infidelities, even a scandal in which he was accused of having sex with a minor.

Gutierrez, who rose to fame alongside Levy on a reality TV show on Telemundo, where the show searched for actors for telenovelas, made the surprise announcement in a news release, sent only hours ago to AOL Latino, that the relationship between her and Levy is over.

Just days ago, the couple seemed happy during People en Espanol's '50 Most Beautiful People' broadcast on Univision, in which both actors ranked on the list. In spite of appearances and always beside her man, never giving opinions or interviews, saying in her statement, "I owe myself above all else respect as a person, woman and mother," Elizabeth decided to put a firm and decisive end to the relationship and break her silence.

"Through this release, I would like the public to be aware that I've made the decision to end the relationship I've maintained for eight years with William Levy. I always stood firmly next to William, in spite of incessant rumors, to which I gave little importance and had not reason to doubt the strength of our union.

"I made the decision to end this relationship for my childten's and my own well-being. I confess the decision was not at all an easy one, but I owe myself above anything respect as a person, woman and mother.

"I am writing personally to the public to avoid speculation and misunderstandings, with the sole purpose of protecting the emotional health of my two children. I thank the media for maintaining the respect, distance and consideration they have always shown toward my family. Elizabeth Gutierrez."

What is most striking about the news is that the pair was seen together and seemingly enamored this Saturday among friends and family. However, things changed for the worse on Monday.

Gloria Estefan, Emmanuel To Receive Special Honors At 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards

Gloria Estefan will receive recognition for her philanthropic work and Emmanuel will be given a career achievement honor at the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami on April 28.

Premios Billboard, airing at 8 p.m./7 p.m Central live on Telemundo from BankUnited Center in Miami, will include an appearance by Estefan, whose philanthropic work is being honored with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award. Also scheduled to appear is Emmanuel, who will receive the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award for a career that spans three decades.

The Spirit of Hope Award, created in honor of Selena, is given to artists who have tirelessly given their time to civic, community and humanitarian causes. Estefan is known for her music across the globe and her philanthropic stamp also stands tall through her Gloria Estefan Foundation and many other projects she has personally taken on. The foundation helps abused children, raises funds for their health-related causes and provides scholarships to college students.

Emmanuel was discovered 35 years ago as "La voz del Heraldo," or "The voice of the Herald."  Since then, the singer-songwriter has become internationally renowned for a career that will be honored with the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award. The crooner was mentored early in his career by tenor Pedro Vargas. Emmanuel went on to record music that for more than three decades has continued to make new fans. His success also opened the doors for other Latin music acts, as he was the first international Latino music artist to have his own concerts in the United States at such places as New York's Radio City Music Hall, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Emmanuel has received recognition for his work in music including La Voz del Heraldo in 1976, best singer and new artist at Festival OTI, 1979; one Silver trophy (Antorcha de Plata) at Viña del Mar, Chile in 1983 and two in 1989; and seven gold and two platinum albums. He has also lent support and provided awareness and fundraising projects that benefit the environment and other causes.

Winners of the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award and the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award are decided by an editorial committee, which bases its decisions on virtues related to that specific award. Previous Billboard Spirit of Hope Award honorees include Marc Anthony, Daddy Yankee, Shakira, Juan Luis Guerra, Mana, El General, Ricky Martin, Olga Tañon, Soraya, Ricardo Montaner and Juanes. Previous Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award recipients include Los Temerarios, Vicente Fernandez, Celia Cruz, Joan Sebastian, Marco Antonio Solis, Miguel Bose, Conjunto Primavera and Carlos Santana.

The awards show can be accessed through www.Telemundo.com/PremiosBillboard, the official site of the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm for the latest information and details of this impressive event. Fans can also follow the event on Twitter: @LatinBillboards and on Facebook: Facebook.com/PremiosBillboardTelemundo.
