They were planning to release a new video game, so this came as a shock to the music industry and everybody else: The Black Eyed Peas announced their indefinite hiatus to pursue their own solo ventures.
The news was broken by Fergie during an England show a few days back at Alton Towers in Staffordshire. She addressed the crowd and said that the show was “very special” and also that this will be the “last time we’re going to be in England for a long time.”
Fergie stated:
“We want you to know that we love you and thank you for the support you’ve given from the beginning.”
The Black Eyed Peas have gone into hiatus back in 2005 up to 2009 and Fergie explained that this time the break is going to be similar and said that this isn’t going to be the last time the crowd will see them.
Will.i.am also tweeted a similar statement:
“The @Bep will take a break after the beginning…just like we did from monkey business to the e.n.d…but it doesn’t mean we stop creating.”
The Black Eyed Peas have released six group albums during its existence: Behind the Front (1998) Bridging the Gap (2000) Elephunk (2003) Monkey Business (2005) The E.N.D. (2009) The Beginning (2010).
Rumors said that Fergie was indeed planning to leave The Black Eyed Peas due to her plans to have a baby. Another reason (which is actually the main reason) is that she can’t stand Will.i.am. RadarOnline.com reports that it’s not only Fergie who’s having problems with Will.i.am, but so does the rest of the group.
The unidentified source said:
“Things have gotten really bad with Will.i.Am. And it’s not just Fergie who is clashing with him. So is the rest of the band. His ego is out of control.”
Will.i.am. tried to put a rest on the negative rumor by tweeting:
“Don’t belive gossip about fergie leaving the group (we are never breaking up) its all lies!!!”
Sounds like somebody pressed his panic button there.
