American Idol - American Idol Stunned As Favourite Is Eliminated

American Idol contestant Pia Toscano was eliminated from the competition last night, despite being heavily tipped to become this year's American Idol champion, reports Abc News.

As host Ryan Seacrest announced Toscano's name, the 'Idol' audience shouted "no!" and the judges looked stunned. Steven Tyler told the American viewers that their "lack of passion was unforgivable" while Jennifer Lopez appeared to be on the verge of tears. The 41-year-old R&B star said that she was angry and speechless and Randy Jackson echoed the comments. Despite the furore, Toscano accepted the decision but became teary when talking about how her deceased grandfather had inspired her 'final song'. The 22-year-old proceeded to sing 'Stand By You' and received a stand ovation from the live studio audience. Before her departure, the New Yorker had been compared to the likes of Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. She received unanimous praise for her rendition of Tina Turner's 'River Deep, Mountain High' on Tuesday's show and was assumed to be safe from elimination.

The shock elimination now leaves the door open for contestants such as Casey Abrams and Paul Mcdonald to take this year's American Idol crown.

Renovated Latin Fever

The popular nightclub in Toronto back to our night with a totally new.Because the party do not stop the dance floor and waits for no man, I have prepared a very good news, Latin Fever Nightclub, a popular nightclub in our town located at 2220 Highway 7, returns with a totally renewed from Friday April 1, and begins to gear with Touch Fridays nights by Samuel Perez.

"The idea is to bring to Latino audiences a different option than what is currently in the national clubs. We offer varied entertainment, faces new artists and we are focusing on the musical genres that are making waves in the youth "She says Samuel, who also adds that" We want to focus on a younger clientele while giving due prominence music in English. "

In terms of musical genres will be present on Friday April 1st and all Fridays Touch Friday, we mentioned Samuel rhythms like reggaeton, bachata, urban music, latin pop and dembow among others, thus giving the final touches to a space promises to be a favorite for our community will celebrate every Friday.

But that's not all because Samuel Perez also made a very interesting announcement for all DJ's of our city, it tells us "The idea is to have several DJ's. They do not have a fixed share going to give the national DJ's all have a day. We want to bring other local DJs to take charge of encouraging the parties. " A unique offering for those looking to continue growing in this world of mixing.

Well we could talk with Connie Caruso, owner of the club who gave us a few words about this great change in the appearance of local "I feel very good about this renewal, imagine, after 14 years of having Latin Fever and to be renewing little by little, this has been a total change. There never was a renewal of this magnitude. " If you think that this change everything will be different, Ms. Caruso can confirm this, but always be a change for the better: "You can expect a more modern, more comfortable environment and more space, with a much better service."

Finally, and to invite everyone to visit this newly renovated Latin Fever on opening day, hand in hand with the Touch Fridays, Samuel Perez leaves us a few words "If you're tired of the monotony of going to a disco and stay the night stand, why not spend the bachata or merengue you like, if you feel that the promoters do not give you the attention and respect they deserve and are looking for a classy and affordable prices, then Friday is the Touch perfect for a Friday night. " See you there!

Our 10 Favorite Telenovelas of All Time

Are you as excited as we are about Kate del Castillo’s return to the world of telenovelas with La Reina del Sur?

In the new Telemundo drama, del Castillo plays Teresa Mendoza, an unexpected drug lord. The new soap is based on the best-selling book by the same name written by Spanish author Arturo Pérez Reverte. After Mendoza’s lover, Güero Davila, is killed by drug cartels, she knows she is the next target for the assassins and flees from her small Mexican town to the Costa del Sol in Spain. Eventually, Mendoza becomes a big time Cocaine Queen, running a drug dealing ring spanning three continents—but it becomes clear to Teresa soon enough that there are only two ways out of the drug business: death or jail.
In honor of the first new telenovela to get us super excited in a while, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and round up our ten favorite Spanish-language soaps of all time. Let us know if we forgot any!

1)    La Reina del Sur airs on Telemundo starting in February 2011.

2) Yo Soy Betty la Fea

tvyespectaculos

Betty La Fea became an international phenomenon after it originally aired in Colombia in 1999. The story follows Beatriz Aurora Pinzón Solano, aka Betty, who works as a secretary at the fictitious fashion empire, EcoModa. Though she is brilliant, Betty is marginalized at the company because of her looks. Eventually she wins everyone over with her charm and smarts. More than a dozen versions of the telenovela have been made all across the world including the U.S. hit Ugly Betty, starring America Ferrera.

3) Pedro el Escamoso
jjtcomm

This popular telenovela about a hapless womanizer also hailed from Colombia and aired in 2001. Starring Miguel Varoni as Pedro Coral Tavera, a charming but unlucky man who moves from his small town to the big city in search of his fortune, the show was an instant hit. Pedro finds work as a driver for high-powered businessman Cesar Luis Freydell, and falls in love at first sight with the beautiful Paula Divel. Too bad for Pedro that Paula's already head over heels in love with Cesar.

4) Gitanas
sitemap.3x
This Mexican telenovela aired in 2004 and was about Maria Salome (played by Ana de la Reguera), a gorgeous gypsy woman who falls in love with a non-gypsy man, or "gayo." The Mexican telenvola Volver a Empezar became one of the most popular soap opera's in Televisa's history. Starring Mexican singer Yuri as Reni and Puerto Rican heartthrob Chayenne as hiumself, the story follows Reni through a complicated path of love, fame and redemption. After an accident renders her paralyzed and with amnesia, she leans on her friend Tony and the two eventually fall in love after Reni makes a triumphant return to the stage, fully recovered.

Marimar starred Thalia as the titular character, a poor girl who lives on the beach with her loving grandparents. Eventually, Marimar falls in love with Sergio, the son of a wealthy family whose mother will stop at nothing to keep them apart. After Sergio's mother frames Marimar and kills her grandparents, the once innocent girl returns seeking revenge.

7) Muchachitas
memorias-de-la-generacion

Before Rebelde or RBD, there was Muchachitas for Anahi! Shown on Univisión in the early 1990s, this charming telenovela told the tale of four young women(Mónica, Elena, Leticia and Isabel) who join a special school to pursue their dreams of fame and fortune. All the girls are from different walks of life; Monica is wealthy, Elena is an outside, Leticia is a wanna-be and poor Isabel is engaged to a much older man.

8) Rosa Salvaje

This is an oldie but a goodie. Starring Verónica Castro as the main character, Rosa, this Mexican telenovela aired in 1987. Mexico Launches Beer for Gay Market

How is Mexican beer made Gay? Would you want to try it?

The Mexican brewery "Minerva" has decided to target LGBT community and has become the number one alcoholic beverage in México.

The small brewery, Minerva that is based in Jalisco is producing Salamandra and Purple Hand, their "Artisan Honey-Ales" brewed with 100% organic honey and malt, that appeals to the taste of the LGBT community.
According to sources, the name of the beers; Purple Hand Beer and Salamandra Cerveza Artesinal represents the colors of the gay community, that it speaks of the struggle for equal rights.

For example; "Purple Hand" is a reference and homage of sorts to the night of Halloween, 1969, when sixty members of the Gay Liberation Front and the Society for Individual Rights protested in front of the San Francisco's Examiner in response to a series of news articles disparaging LGBT people in San Francisco's gay bars and clubs.

Since launching the products, Minerva has received offers by the US, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia and Japan, interested in importing the beer.

Not sure how the beer is different from other beers, or if it gives the same effects, but maybe it would be worth trying.

How do you feel about a beer designed specifically for gays?

Helpful Benefits of Salsa Dance Group Lessons

By: Czarina Canlas

If you yearn for the excitement of Salsa Dancing, then why not take group lessons.  You don’t have to wait until you could afford private lessons because they can be quite expensive ranging from $60/hour to the hundreds of dollars.

Group lessons allow you to meet a diverse group of people from all walks of life that have the same interest as you in getting proficient in dancing Salsa. There are many different levels based on the school that ranges from beginner to advanced to performance training. In other words, there will be a level no matter what your experience with salsa dancing. The other benefit of group lessons is that it simulates a salsa dance club because it gives you a chance to dance with a mixture of partners, which improves lead and follow skills. Each level usually lasts 6-8 weeks depending on the school and you could expect to pay about $120.
salsaracing

If you are investing in classes, make sure that you are always punctual. Although there is always a review from the previous week, it does tend to move in a good pace and you don’t want to miss important new steps or spins that are taught. It is also important that you continue to practice at home so that you don’t forget what you learned by the following week.  Another good idea is to take a small camera so that you could actually record some of the moves and then you could practice them at home.
flickr
Make sure that you don’t stress yourself out as you are there for the fun of salsa dancing.  Don’t over think the steps, they are made to be simple. Salsa dancing is about adding your personal style to a predefined set of steps.  Everyone moves a little different and that’s what makes the dance so great. So relax, focus on the Instructor and you will do just fine.

Remember a group lessons are entertaining, social, and inexpensive way to learn to dance salsa.  So what are you waiting for?

Selena Gomez & Justin Bieber are Madly in Love?

Justin Bieber , a 16 year old Canadian singer  is nominated in two categories; Best Pop Vocal Album and Best New artist for the 2011 Grammy Awards that will be held on  February 13, 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. While Selena, the 18 year old Wizard of Waverly Place are one of the hottest teenage sensation  nowadays were caught up sharing a passionate kiss on a private yacht in the Caribbean over the holiday weekend.

In addition, Neither Gomez nor Bieber has confirmed that they're dating, but several websites have already given the pair a new nickname: "Justlena." Justin recently kept mum when asked about their relationship, but he told a radio station that he thought Selena was an “amazing person. Though Gomez has been linked to stars like Taylor Lautner and Nick Jonas in the past, from source say she flirted ruthlessly with all the boys while working as the opening act for their tour.

It is also said that Gomez plotted to " bring Demi Lovato down" as the two are Disney rivals. Demi had a nervous breakdown due in part to the " mean girls" attitude of a more sophisticated Selena Gomez. Still the pictures shows they are madly in love and couldn’t keep their hands off of each other while they spent time with friends celebrating the new year.

Latin Music Legends Legacy Stamps For 2011

The United States Postal Service announced this week the new 2011 Commemorative Stamp Program and  releasing a set of stamps in September 2011 just in time for Latino Heritage Month. Tito Puente , Carmen Miranda, Selena, Carlos Gardel, and Celia Cruz the legendary icons can now add attraction to your envelopes as well as your music and film collection.

Among the unique musical genres and styles represented are Tejano, tango, samba, Latin jazz, and salsa. The stamps go on sale in March.

According to everythinglongbeach. For these stamps, artist Rafael Lopez, of San Diego, CA, painted semi-realistic portraits of each musical artist designed to evoke their personality, vitality, and even their sound. He used a warm palette of colors—from brilliant yellows, pinks, and lime green to rich shades of purple and blue—to suggest the flavor and energy these artists brought to their work. Each musician is depicted in mid-performance. One can almost hear Celia Cruz shout her trademark rallying cry ¡Azucar! (Sugar!) or sense Tito Puente’s rhythmic intensity as he performed one of his progressive arrangements on the timbales. Art director Ethel Kessler, of Bethesda, Maryland, says, “My goal was that when you see the stamp, you hear the music.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

"How wonderful it would be if we could help our children and grandchildren to learn thanksgiving at an early age. Thanksgiving opens the doors. It changes a child's personality. A child is resentful, negative, or thankful. Thankful children want to give, they radiate happiness; they draw people."-Sir John Templeton
