Ricky Martin to wed boyfriend Jan. 28 in New York

According to Puerto Rican daily El Nuevo Dia, singer Ricky Martin plans to marry boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez on Jan. 28 in New York.

Martin and Gonzalez will presumably wed in the U.S. city, which approved same-sex marriages in June. He obtained Spanish citizenship in November in what was thought to be an effort to marry Gonzalez.

Ricky Martin announced his sexual orientation in March 2010 and has expressed his support for same-sex marriages. The singer also said in June that he favors homosexual marriage in Puerto Rico, where it is still illegal.

"What I want is for them to say no to discrimination so that equality among us human beings may be a reality in my country," Martin said.

Martin, who turned 40 Dec. 24, admitted on March 27, 2010 that he is a gay man, calling his homosexuality "a gift" on his Web page. He has since participated in several events supporting homosexuals, including receiving the Vito Russo prize from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD) for his promotion of rights equality for the gay community. In his acceptance speech, he also acknowledged his romantic involvement with Gonzalez.

"I only wanted to be free and I can say that today I'm free," Martin said, thanking his "partner, my boyfriend, Carlos. You're the greatest."

Martin has been spending time at his Miami home, celebrating the holidays with his twin sons, Mateo and Valentino, along with Gonzalez.

Ricky Martin Rallies Against New Hate Crime Laws

Ricky Martin is none too happy with Puerto Rico’s Senate right now.

Fox News Latino is reporting that the Boricua superstar has expressed disapproval over a move by the body to amend a hate-crime law. Why is the 39-year-old so upset, exactly? Because the change in the law would reportedly remove the protection for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people of Puerto Rico.

Ricky Martin Comes Out of the Closet (Finally)

Martin took to his website to express his feelings over the move. “I'm very sad about the turn the discussion on Criminal Law is taking in Puerto Rico that proposes the elimination of aggravating factors in cases where crimes are committed out of prejudice toward the victim,” Martin wrote. The gorgeous singer came out as a gay man last year via his website and since then has been outwardly proud about his sexuality. “I am very blessed to be who I am,” he wrote in a long address on his website.

As for the plan for Puerto Rico’s hate-crime law, Fox News Latino also reports that the Puerto Rican chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union recently expressed its opposition to the Senate bill that would eliminate the factor in hate crimes against LGBT people and foreigners (principally represented on Puerto Rico by Dominicans).

The lower house of the Puerto Rican legislature will reportedly take up the Senate measure.

In his address, Martin added that some politicians in Puerto Rico are “promoting inequality and hate,” while great nations focus on providing their citizens with basic rights.

Ricky Martin to Guest Star on 'Glee'!

Oh. Em. Geee. TV Line is reporting that Ricky Martin will guest star on Glee next year. We LOVE the hit FOX show and any chance to get a glimpse of Ricky is more than welcome so basically, we don’t know what to do with ourselves around here!

What role is the 39-year-old Boricua superstar in talks to play, exactly? One hint: Español. A source told TV Line that Martin will play “the hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio.” Um, for sure, Lima ain't seen nothing yet!

In addition to teaching the Glee kids Spanish, Martin’s character will also reportedly headline two big musical numbers. According to TV Line, Martin’s role in Glee will mark the star’s highest profile acting gig since he starred in General Hospital in the mid-90s. The episode is set to air in January.

After filming Glee, Martin will begin rehearsals in New York for his role in the Broadway play Evita—a role we’ve been anticipating for months now.

Ricky Martin: Marriage? You're crazy!

Upon arriving in Costa Rica in his private jet, and accompanied by his kids, the Puerto Rican pop star was almost immediately greeted by a reporter for the Spanish-language talk show 'El Gordo y la Flaca,' who questioned Ricky about whether he had any plans to wed boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez. Although he's been loved up for years, his answer may surprise you.

Ricky did not have time to react to the direct question, but with a quick, parsimonious explanation said he doesn't even think about marriage.

"No, you guys are crazy for getting me hitched. There's been no talk of that yet," Martin told the reporter at a hotel lobby in San Jose, where several fans waited for hours to see Ricky.

Ricky and his partner, a financier, have maintained a very discreet relationship, even after the singer publicly acknowledged he was gay back in March 2010.

The couple took a brief jaunt to Sardinia in August while Ricky was on a short break from his Musica+Alma+Sexo tour.

After years of rumors among fans and the gay community, Martin revealed his sexual orientation as a very "proud homosexual man" on March 29, 2010. Since then, he is rarely seen with his partner, a decision Martin has chosen to separate his personal and professional lives. He also seldom speaks about his twin boys, whom he fathered from a surrogate.

Ricky Martin Takes A Stand Against Cyberbullying

Ricky Martin stood up against cyberbullying by changing his Twitter profile photo to that of a teenage boy who committed suicide after being picked on for being bisexual. The Puerto Rican singer himself came out of the closet in 2010, stating on his website that he was “a fortunate homosexual man” and blessed to be who he is.


“THIS NEEDS TO STOP NOW,” the 42-year-old star wrote on his Twitter, “HOW MANY LIVES LOST BEFORE SOMEONE LISTENS #MakeALawForJamey.” The post was accompanied by a link to an article from The Advocate about 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer from Buffalo, New York who died recently from an apparent suicide.

The teenage boy shared his torment over being bullied through his accounts on various social networks, including YouTube and Tumblr. In a both heartbreaking and uplifting video he uploaded onto YouTube back in May, Jamey spoke positively about the support he had received from friends after coming out as a bisexual. “You were born this way and all you have to do is hold your head up and you’ll go far,” the teen said into his webcam, “… just love yourself and you’re set.”



Like Jamey, Martin has also been a victim of cyberbullying. Earlier this year, Puerto Rican pastor Wanda Rolon attacked the singer because of his sexual orientation. She took to Facebook to express her disapproval. “There is another one who wants to take people to hell! RM [Ricky Martin] is its ambassador,” she said. Rolon even arranged a protest outside a concert Martin had at El Coliseo in Puerto Rico. Martin’s foundation has since organized a cyberbullying and Internet safety summit, which will be held this Friday in Isla Verde and is open to health professionals, teachers, and parents.

Calle 13 Scores 10 Latin Grammy Nominations

Calle 13 scored a record 10 Latin Grammy nominations this Wednesday, including Record and Album of the year. Other top nominees were Franco de Vita with five, Marco Antonio Solís with four and Shakira with three.

The 12th annual Latin Grammy Awards will be airing live from Sin City on November 10, 2011. The event will be held at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Events Center and will be broadcasted on Univision, from 8pm to 11 pm, for the rest of the world to watch.

The Latin Grammys recognize the best of the best in Latin music and have been watched by not just Spanish speakers, but viewers form all over the world.

Nominees for this year's awards were announced at a press conference today from the Avalon in Hollywood, California. A live broadcast could be found on the official Latin Grammy website.

Calle 13 announced the nominees for Best Pop Album in both the female and male categories. Nominees for Mejor Album Vocal Pop Femenino include:

Ricky Martin, boyfriend take quickie Sardinia getaway

Pop star Ricky Martin has made it a point to keep his personal life, well, private. That includes any mention of his two children, and his involvement with long-time partner, Carlos Gonzalez. The pair was seen vacationing this weekend for a very quick jaunt in the Mediterranean.

According to the Daily Mail, the multi-million album selling pop star and his financier boyfriend were spotted in the island of Sardinia this weekend. The pair took a much needed respite on the heels of Ricky's demanding touring schedule. The pop singer himself Tweeted that the mini-vacation in Porto Cervo, Sardinia was just a quickie.

"Only 18 hrs in Sardinia. I had to jump in the ocean!" the 39-year-old Tweeted on August 19.

The Daily Mail reported the pair stayed at the luxurious Hotel Cala di Volpe. He has spoken highly and honorably of both his relationship and his partner, saying, "It [the relationship] is very beautiful. Super cool. I'm very happy."

After years of rumors among fans and the gay community, Martin revealed his sexual orientation as a very "proud homosexual man" in March 2010. Since then, he is rarely seen with his partner, a decision Martin has chosen to separate his personal and professional lives. He also seldom speaks about his twin boys, whom he fathered from a surrogate.

Martin's twin boys were not seen during the quick holiday, at which the pair looked very relaxed and very much in love as they embraced for photographers.


The proud father of three-year-old twins, Matteo and Valentino, revealed his financier boyfriend's identity during an emotional speech at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York earlier this year. He received the Vito Russo Award at the event, which honored him as a role model.

Martin now adds best-selling author to his list of accomplishments, releasing his autobiography, 'Me,' which was published on November 2, 2010.

Martin's career is steaming ahead, following the January release of his first studio album in six years, 'Musica+Alma+Sexo,' his ninth album as a solo artist. The album, for which he's on tour, became the highest-charting primarily Spanish-language album since Selena's number one album 'Dreaming of You.' It also represents his highest-charting album since 'Ricky Martin' debuted at No. 1 in May 1999.

Ricky Martin Finally Talks About Carlos Gonzales, His Boyfriend [Video]

Ricky Martin finally opened up on VH1's Behind The Music and talked about the only thing we ever wanted to know ever since he came out: who the fuck he's been fucking. Not nobody wanted to hear about his feelings, his struggles, his spirituality or any of his tedious new age ramblings.

Took you long enough, cabron...



Anyway, this is what he said:

    "My boyfriend is very sexy, very smart, very compassionate but the most important thing: he loves my children"

Yes, Ricky has mentioned dating somebody in the past but he's never divulged any real details. Not that he's telling us who's the top or the bottom here, but this is the most he's ever talked about concerning that near-mythical Carlos Gonzales. Ricky even forks out some personal photos:

One thing, thought: we hate to hate on you Ricky (no we don't) but, damn dude, ya callate with the coming out of the closet thing! You've been talking about it over, and over, and over ad nauseam.

Again, not nobody be caring that he's gay and out of the closet anymore but Ricky still can't let go of the moment:

Fans catch Ricky Martin naked in hotel suite prank

Puerto Rican pop icon Ricky Martin got more than he bargained for at a recent luxury hotel stay after being caught by surprise, and bare naked, by industrious fans.

The singer later told the British news show 'This Morning' that fans surprised him in the buff after pulling a stunt that was no doubt inspired by James Bond himself. The singer might as well have been singing 'For Your Eyes Only' as fans crawled through the ventilation system of the hotel, which the singer did not name, before he noticed noises coming from what he thought was inside the hotel suite.


The singer's reaction was one of absolute shock, but he was gracious enough not to call hotel staff, who would've invariably called authorities. Martin, who is known for being a charming and gracious host, instead told the fans to sit tight while he got dressed and later shot photos with them.

"I was walking naked through the room when I hear a sound. I said to myself 'someone's in this room.' They were in the ventilation shaft. They somehow managed to gain access into the ventilation system," he told the British morning show.

According to People en Español, the singer said that after all that work to meet him, he needed to show his appreciation.

"I had to take a photo with them and sign their autographs."

Ricky Martin Calls In Police In Response To Death Threat

Ricky Martin has reportedly called in police after receiving a death threat on Twitter.com.  Ricky is doing a world on tour and was set to take his show to London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo today (July 12).

The singing star was freaking out over receiving a ‘tweet’ that said: “They will cry soon because you’re dead.”

Ricky Martin, who is a openly homosexual, had earlier said that his dad told him to be free. “My parents had known for a long time. I was worried about their reaction when I told them, but my dad said, ‘Come here and give me a kiss. Then go out there and be free and happy.’ It was more difficult to come out to my family than it was to the world,” Hello! Magazine quoted the singer as saying.

Martin has alerted authorities to the message ahead of his London Show.

Ricky Martin Says He Wants to Have a Daughter

Singer Ricky Martin, who is already the father of twin boys, told an Argentine newspaper that he would like to have a daughter.

"As I have the two little boys, now I want a daddy's girl," the openly gay superstar said in an interview with Buenos Aires daily Clarin.

Martin's twins, Matteo and Valentino, were born in 2008 to a surrogate mother.

The Puerto Rican singer came to Buenos Aires to promote his latest album, "Musica+Alma+Sexo," but Argentina buzzed with rumors that a wedding would be part of his visit to the first Latin American country to allow same-sex marriage.

Those expectations were dashed when Martin arrived in Buenos Aires without his partner, Carlos Gonzalez.

In an interview Tuesday night with the diva of Argentine television, Susana Gimenez, the artist said marriage is not part of his plans at the moment.

Martin, who was received by President Cristina Fernandez at the Casa Rosada, Argentina's White House, also filmed part of a music video on the streets of Buenos Aires and autographed CDs for fans.

The singer will return to Argentina in September as part of his "Musica+Alma+Sexo" tour.

Ricky Martin to Open Children's Center to Help Fight Human Trafficking in Puerto Rico

Ricky Martin  is expanding his philanthropy projects and opening up a new Prevention Center for kids with his organization "The Children's Foundation."

The new facility is set to open early next year in Loiza, Puerto Rico according to the Latin American Herald Tribune.

Martin's news comes days after he held a fund-raising golf tournament with his non profit for the new children's center which aims to fight human trafficking, especially that of kids in the island. The gathering was held at the Trump International Golf Resort in the east coast of Puerto Rico known as Rio Grande.

He also reinforced his plans of opening more centers in various countries.

“This is just the start of a project that is going to spread across the rest of the island and on to the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Latin America,” The Latin American Herald Tribune quoted Martin saying at his fundraiser.

The official name of the establishment will be "The Ricky Martin Foundation Child Development and Prevention Center." It will be partnering with SER-- a non profit in Puerto Rico known as "the Our School and Community Initiative."

Toddlers to high school students will be cared for in the institution, which as the Tribune reports will have a budget of $4 million, 10 classrooms, a library as well as a recreation area.

“We need to and we want to make a difference for the children and young people of Loiza. We will be there to give them support and the tools they need to guarantee them a better future,” said Martin who also highlighted the center will highlight values such as music, sports, meditation, health and the arts.

Ricky Martin May Seek Spanish Citizenship to Marry his Longtime BF

The Spanish-language tabloids are claiming that Ricky Martin may be seeking Spanish citizenship in order to make his relationship with longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez official.

His good friend, Spanish model Esther Cañadas, has reportedly even offered up her house so that Ricky can have a place to stay while he applies for citizenship. The whispers began just weeks after the Puerto Rican pop star openly confirmed his relationship with Gonzalez by thanking him at the GLAAD awards. He may even be planning a move to the motherland since same-sex marriage is legal there.

Martin has yet to confirm the wedding bells, telling the media coyly, "It would be lovely, but there are no plans at the moment to marry." Gonzalez was front and center as Ricky kicked off his world tour in San Juan, so marriage or not—they are definitely going strong!

Ricky Martin is Vito Russo Awardee at GLAAD 2011

The self-proclaimed gay superstar Ricky Martin is one of the major recipients of prestigious awards from the recent 22nd Annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD 2011) held at the New York Marriott Marquis on Saturday (March 19) in New York City.

The Latino pop singer was honored with Vito Russo Award, (named after Victor Russo, a famous gay activist) for being an inspiration to many gays and lesbians for coming out in the open confidently and proudly.

The GLAAD Media Awards centers on the upliftment and positive acceptance of gay, bisexual and transgender community by the society especially in the media and everything that affects their lives. Their valuable contributions and their good influence in the society through their talents are one of the criteria that the award giving body is greatly considering.

With this, they had their eyes to Puerto Rican born singer Ricky Martin when he became the special guest at “Oprah Winfrey Show” and talks freely about raising his twin boys and admitting that he is a gay.”

That particular episode was regarded as one of the controversial, sensitive and brave revelation that answered a 10 decade question-“Is Ricky Martin a gay?” and enlightened some confused minds. With this interview, he was then idolized and tagged as the new gay role model in the world particularly in Latin Americas.


After a decade in the industry, rocking the world with his heart popping music genre and dance craze tunes like the salsa-style song “Livin la Vida Loca” “She Bangs” and many more, portraying a manly image in his music videos with his signature tight leather pants v-neck shirt, this 39 year old handsome hunk that was fantasized by women all over the world turned out to have a woman’s heart. He even had a girlfriend for over 14 years named Rebecca de Alba, so no one suspected about his true sexuality.


Many were dismayed, many were mummed, many rejoiced, but it brought a great relief to Ricky Martin especially. It was something spectacular and made him live a meaningful and happy life now. And his life became brighter and fulfilled with the birth of his twin in 2008 named Matteo and Valentino through a surrogate mother.


“I’ve been through an intense spiritual process for the last five years, especially the last two years, I'm walking today with my head up high, and to be here? To be receiving an award? I’ve only started,” he said happily when interviewed.
GLAAD is also set to release its second batch of awards on April 10 in Los Angeles and in May 14 in San Francisco, so better watch out because who knows, maybe one of your idols will be on the list.
Ricky Martin latest bilingual album entitled Música + Alma + Sexo which was released on February 1, 2011 was already soaring up in the billboard list.
