Prince Royce Becomes Top-Selling Latino Music Artist in U.S.

Miami –  Prince Royce is still celebrating the success of his first album, with which he has now become the only Latino artist of 2011 in the United States to go triple platinum by selling 300,000 copies.

"It means that dreams certainly can be made into reality. That there are people who still buy an album and that there are people who still consume music. And I don't think that's something that happens every day," the 22-year-old singer told Efe minutes before receiving the triple platinum certification awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In the form of a plaque depicting three vinyl records, Royce received the recognition from the hand of his producer, Sergio George, at a ceremony in Miami.

He has been a phenomenon ever since he made his debut in the music industry in 2010 with the album bearing his name. The work was nominated for a Latino Grammy in 2010 for best contemporary tropical album and this year it took three Lo Nuestro prizes, four Billboard Latino prizes and four Juventud awards.

Royce confessed that he still gets very nervous at ceremonies such as the one he will share with Mana at the Nov. 10 Latin Grammy Award gala in Las Vegas.

For 2012, he is preparing his second album in Spanish and his first in English.
