While part-Mexican singer/actress Selena Gomez reflects on the busy year that has been 2011, she shared with MTV News her most memorable moments this year and how she’s not planning for 2012.
In addition to her first headlining tour, Gomez also hosted the VMA pre-show and the EMA award show in Northern Ireland. She filmed videos for highly successful singles off her latest album When The Sun Goes Down, starred in the summer movie Monte Carlo, and even bade farewell to her hit Disney Channel series The Wizards of Waverly Place.
She recalls the end of her family sitcom the most memorable moment of the past year. “To be honest, it would probably be when my series ended and not in, like, a happy way, but it was kind of like it was a new chapter in my life.”
Gomez’s We Own The Night Tour was successful beyond even what she would have expected. “My music, for sure, [surprised me], like touring,” she said. “I was excited to go everywhere and meet my fans and experience different places. To be honest, I didn't expect the tour to do as well as it did, and we went to Canada and it was amazing and made me feel very humbled.”
As for her philosophy going into 2012, she said, “I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything.” She does have a break for the holidays where she said she will be spending time with family, relaxing and doing nothing.
The busy starlet is already booked to star in the film Spring Breakers with James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, and Emma Roberts in the upcoming year—so we're not sure we're buying the "not planning"!
