Every year, on the morning of the Emmy nominations, television fans hope and pray that maybe, just maybe, this will be the year Emmy voters get it right. But, of course, with so many categories and so many potential nominees, it’s impossible for the Emmy Awards to make everybody happy, and the 2011 nominations were no different. There were several pleasant surprises, as the Academy took some risks with less mainstream shows, and a few unpleasant ones – and, as always, there were far too many quality TV shows and actors that were completely ignored. Take a look at some of the biggest upsets and oversights from the 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
