Penélope Cruz and Selena Gomez are among the nominees for the 26th Annual Imagen Awards, which honor "positive portrayals" of Hispanics and Latino cultures in entertainment.
The list of nominees was announced Wednesday at the Imagen Foundation headquarters in Pasadena, California, and the awards will be handed out at an Aug. 12 gala at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Cruz was nominated in the category of Best Actress/Feature Film for her performance in "A Matador's Mistress."
She is competing against Judy Reyes ("Gun Hill Road"), Michelle Rodriguez, ("Tropico de Sangre") and Alexa Vega, "From Prada to Nada").
Selena Gomez, star of the Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" vies with Bella Thorne ("Shake It Up"), Victoria Justice ("Victorious") and Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer ("The Fresh Beat Band") in the category of Best Young Actress/Television.
Selection of the winners is in the hands of "an independent panel of entertainment industry executives and Latino community leaders," the Imagen Foundation said.
