Bruno Mars wants Big Music Inc. to back off!

Mars is suing the company, claiming it did not choose to keep him around after he gave them the agreed amount of songs earlier this year. The singer further says the company had a limited amount of time but failed to meet a deadline.

Entertainment website TMZ.com got a hold of the court documents filed in Los Angeles, Calif., on Tuesday.

In the documents, Mars also claims Big Music Inc. never let him know what their final decision would be, so he thought they were through.

Big Music Inc., meanwhile, says they are still entitled to 50 percent of all the copyrights to his music.

2011 MTV Video Music Awards Best Dressed

At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, today’s hottest music stars proved that they’ve got fashion sense to match their musical talents. While we can’t say much for some (ahem, Bieber), his girlfriend Selena Gomez did make our VMAs Best Dressed list.

Gomez totally owned her outfit on the black carpet, and not just because it matched the rug. The 19-year-old ‘Who Says’ hitmaker rocked a gorgeous short black dress with a long cape-like lacey cover-up, and shockingly, managed to keep from looking like Batman.

Beyonce, who sported an orange flowy dress, looked flawless as always. We loved her summery look — and the mom-to-be pregnancy glow.

While it may surprise some (okay, everyone), we have to give it to Lady Gaga, who came to the 2011 VMAs dressed as her alter ego Jo Calderone, and stayed in full man-costume all night long. What can we say, we’re suckers for weird outfits!

Also on our list, Britney looked stellar in her all-black ensemble, and we especially loved her heels. Truth be told, it’s Britney, bitch …

What’s not to love? Bruno Mars is the only boy to make our Best Dressed list, but he deserves it, as he always comes to music’s biggest nights dressed to the nines.

Latinos Show Their Love For Elvis Presley

There are certain artists that just seem to transcend cultural barriers. Enrique Iglesias is an example, as is Shakira. And though he's been gone for over three decades, you can add Elvis Presley to that list too. Believe it or not, the "King of Rock n' Roll" has a massive international fan base, particularly in Latin America.

This week marks the 34th anniversary of Elvis' passing. And just like every year, it creates for a huge influx of Presley devotees to the singer's legendary Memphis estate. Thousands showed up for a memorial at his  Graceland home with flowers, candles, and well wishes for the fallen star. And not surprisingly, several of those fans happened to be Latino.

    "Elvis' music keeps the family together," said Paula Penna, a fan who had traveled from Brazil. "I promised to come every year to pay tribute to Elvis because he is very important to the family life."

The King had a particularly important role in Penna's family life. She met her husband at an annual Elvis vigil.

And don't think that Latino celebrities aren't included in the Presley fan club. Thalía has been very open about her devotion to the King and even recorded a simulated duet with him for the popular Viva Elvis tribute album.

Another well-known follower happens to be Edison Peña, one of the more colorful "Los 33" miners. After being rescued last summer, Peña literally sung Presley's praises on the David Letterman show, breaking out into "Suspicious Minds" during the middle of his interview.

And in case you didn't know, Bruno Mars started his career as a pint-sized Elvis impersonator. He even posted a YouTube clip of the King on his Twitter account this week.

But of course, none of these tributes will even begin to compare with what the fans have in store next year. 2012 marks the 35th anniversary of Presley's death and you can bet there will be a massive amount of Blue Suede Shoe wearers making their way to Graceland.

Shakira, Jennifer Lopez & Selena Gomez Are Among Latinos Using Social Media to Fight Hunger

Some of the biggest Latino names in the world – Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias, among others – are using their social media influence to try to end hunger in East Africa.

The Hollywood Reporter says that each of the 150 celebs will highlight the campaign on their Twitter and Facebook accounts on Tuesday in the hopes of raising awareness and "a global audience of 700 million."    

The project’s main partner is "Save the Children." It will also feature Bob Marley’s 1973 tune “High Tide or Low Tide” as the theme song.

Other stars participating in the effort are Tego Calderón, Taio Cruz, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears.

Selena Gomez and Bruno Mars Lead Teen Choice Award Nominations

The Teen Choice nominations are out – and some Latinos are going head-to-head for awards.

Selena Gomez's first featured film, Monte Carlo, was nominated for "Choice Summer Movie," battling it out with Hollywood blockbusters like “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.”

Gomez, who turns 19 on Friday, was also nominated in the “Choice Summer Movie Star: Female” category, where she's up against veteran actress Rosario Dawson for her role as Kate in "Zookeeper."

Justin Bieber’s main squeeze also snatched a nomination for “Choice Summer Music Star”; she's facing off against her BFF Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Katy Perry in that category.

The nominations were announced Monday night.

Christina Aguilera’s “The Voice” was nominated, too, for “Choice TV: Breakout Show.” Its rival show, American Idol, wasn’t. 

Scotty McCreery was, though. The Puerto Rican star is dueling it out with fellow Boricuas Javier Colón, of "The Voice," and Bruno Mars for "Choice Music: Breakout Artist."

Along with international sensation Pitbull, Mars was nominated in the “Choice Summer Music Star: Male” category. Mars' "Lazy Song" was also nominated for “Choice Summer Song,” as was Demi Lovato's newest single “Skyscraper.”

Latino Stars Who Have Been Arrested

Paulina Rubio’s confrontation with the cops this weekend in Miami—she was arrested for allegedly refusing to get out of her car after being in an accident in which she was not at fault—was a classic: She hurled abuse at cops, pleading with onlookers to help her, and then was let go because she had to go home and breastfeed her baby. But she’s hardly the only Latino celeb to get booked and pose for a mugshot. Here are some of the most notorious, ridiculous and even hilarious Latino run ins with the 5-0.

Charlie Sheen

Busted for: Cocaine use, domestic violence

A seemingly perennial violence-prone bad boy, in 1995, he was charged with misdemeanor battery for physical abuse to a former girlfriend. 1998, he was arrested after overdosing on cocaine (he later admitted that he was trying to inject it). In December 2009, he was charged with domestic abuse after waving a knife at ex-wife Brooke Mueller. His sentence: rehab and an anger management course.

Nicole Richie

Busted for: Heroin possession, DUI

She may be the picture of Earth mother now, but Richie had plenty of wild times. In 2003, she was charged with heroin possession—while driving with a suspended license. Three years later, she flunked a sobriety test after cops pulled her over for driving the wrong way on a freeway, scoring a DUI (she later admitted to using marijuana and Vicodin before the incident). She’s since gone to rehab and attended anti-drinking driving classes and her probation was terminated in December.

Jenni Rivera

Busted for: Undeclared cash, assault

Wire transfers? Forget that. In May 2009, Rivera decided to take a luggage full of cash—$50,000—on a plane with her. The problem: Airport workers discovered the greenbacks and the Mexican diva was arrested for going over the limit of $10,000 when carrying cash into the U.S. But the singer, who has gotten into it with fans at concerts (she recently poured beer on a particularly annoying concertgoer), was charged with assault in 2008 when she asked a rowdy male fan onstage and started hitting him.

Michelle Rodriguez

Busted for: Assault, DUI,

The feisty actress has a considerable rap sheet that includes a 2002 assault arrest for fighting with her roommate, eight misdemeanor counts in 2003 related to a hit and run and DUI and driving with a suspended license. Apparently unfazed, after several speeding tickets in Hawaii, she was arrested for DUI in 2005, and was sentenced to jail time, though she was released the same day she entered because of overcrowding. She was sentenced again to jail time in 2007 after violating her probabion by not completing her community service and alcohol program. She did 18 days in jail.

Martin Sheen

Busted for: Trespassing

A dyed-in-the-wool lefty (though a pro-life Catholic), Sheen’s been arrested 66 times by his own count for his participation in scores of protests, including one at the Navada Test Site where nuclear devices are tested.

Ricardo Chavira

Busted for: DUI

The Desperate Housewives actor was pulled over for a routine traffic stop early morning on May 3. Cops say they smelled alcohol on his breath. He refused to take a blood or breath test but was given other sobriety tests and officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

Bruno Mars

Busted for: Cocaine possesion

The Puerto Rican-Filipino singer-songwriter born Peter Hernandez was popped for having a baggie filled with 2.6 grams of coke when found by a security guard at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Café & Casino. He faces felony charges.

Carlos Santana

Busted for: marijuana possession

The Grammy award winning singer-guitarist was busted with five grams of weed after arriving from Mexico. The lifelong toker saw no jail time but paid a fine.

Don Omar

Busted for: marijuana possession

The boricua reggaeton star allegedly was caught smoking a joint in a white Hummer, along with friends. This one joint actually cost him a trial, complete with jury. The charges were dropped after DNA tests on the cigarette were inconclusive.

Jessica Sierra

Busted for: Assault and possession of cocaine, disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest

Sierra, of American Idol fame, was arrested after throwing a glass at a bar patron in Tampa. During her arrest, cops found cocaine in her purse, leading to the drug charge. She was sentenced to a year probation, but then two weeks later, she was once again busted for disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest without violence and probation violation. She also allegedly offered sexual favors to one of the officers—before throwing up all inside the car.

Busted for: Disorderly conduct

The A New World actress tied herself to a section of the White House fence while her mother poured black liquid over her. Kilcher, whose father is a Peruvian Indian, and her mother, were protesting a visit by the Peruvian president Alan Garcia

Bruno Mars Rocks Out On BET Awards

Bruno Mars certainly lit up the stage at the BET Awards ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium Sunday night in Los Angeles Calif.

Mars, A.K.A Peter Gene Hernandez, rocked out with a smile and his electric guitar as he performed a duet of “A Woman’s Worth” with Alicia Keys and DJ Khaled.

Mary J. Blige performed the hits "All Night Long" and "Real Love" before being joined by Anita Baker. The divas performed a duet of "Caught Up in the Rapture."

Chris Brown won a pair of prizes early in the show. Brown, 21, won best male R&B artist and best collaboration for his song "Look At Me Now" with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.

Brown accepted the collaboration award after performing a medley that including the winning track.

"Public-speaking is not my strong suit," he said, thanking BET and his fans before passing the microphone to Lil Wayne, who expressed gratitude to Brown for including him on the track. Busta Rhymes rapped his acceptance.

Earlier in the ceremony, Brown also thanked his fans and the network: "I appreciate all the support. I know it's been a long road, so I appreciate every blessing in front of me."



Lil Wayne also came on stage when Nicki Minaj accepted her award for best female hip-hop artist.

"I can't believe for the first time I get to share a moment like this with the person who saw me rapping on a staircase," she said of the rapper and producer, who was incarcerated when she won the same prize last year. "Lil Wayne, I love you."

Minaj was joined by Selena Gomez’s beau, Justin Bieber, to present the male hip-hop artist award later in the show. Kanye West won but wasn't on hand to accept the trophy.

Instead of traditional awards-show winners' envelopes, winners were revealed on a tablet device provided by Sprint.

Diddy-Dirty Money was named best group. Jaden Smith and Willow Smith were also early winners. The son and daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith tied as winners of the Young Stars award.

Five Latino Musical Legends in the Making!

What makes someone a legend? Is it the fact that their red carpet appearances send journalists into a frenzy? Is it their onstage presence? Is it someone whose voice is so incredible that it has the power to cast a spell over millions of people? Or maybe it's their rockstar swagger? The answer is all of the above. There are countless Latino superstars: Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Shakira and Selena Quintanilla — who was taken away from us way too soon. But what about the next generation?

Here are five Latino musical legends in the making:

Bruno Mars, 25

Mars is an appropriate name for this Hawaii native's astronomical musical talents! At just 25, the singer — whose music dominates the airwaves — has already shown that he can be a hitmaker as well as a songwriter and producer. Bruno co-wrote the hooks for three huge hits: “Nothin’ on You” by B.o.B, “Billionaire" by Travie McCoy, and "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green. But he's also the voice of his own hits, including the soulful love songs "Just the Way You Are" and "Grenade." One of the most brilliant things about Bruno as an artist is the eclectic range of musical genres he blends together — Motown, reggae, R&B, hip-hop, and pop. Bruno's rise to stardom didn't happen overnight; as a child he would impersonate musical legends like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. We wonder if he ever knew he'd be one, too!

Natalia Jimenez, 29

The daughter of a Spanish father (who was also a singer) and a Portuguese mother, Natalia rose to fame as the effervescent lead singer of the Spanish pop band, La 5ª Estación. After completing four studio albums with the group (the last one, Sin Frenos, dropped in 2009 and received the Grammy award for Best Latin Pop Album in 2010), Natalia did what many superstars (Ricky Martin, Fergie) have done before her: she left the group to fly solo. Not only does Natalia have the backing of Sony behind her; she's also being mentored by Gloria and Emilio Estefan in the studio, as she readies her English debut album for the summer of 2011. And while you may love the sound of Natalia on the Spanish version of Ricky Martin's current hit, "The Best Thing About Me is You," we promise you that you're about to be blown away!

Diego Boneta, 20

Although he’s had recurring roles on hit teen dramas like 90210 and Pretty Little Liars — and got his start in the Mexican soap opera Rebelde — Diego considers himself first and foremost a singer. And with a voice like his we can see why! Already a big deal in South America, the Mexican-born singer released his first Spanish album Diego under EMI Music in 2005, and in 2007, he re-released the album singing all of the songs in Portuguese for an edition that sold over 100,000 copies in Brazil alone. He also sings in English, is easy on the eyes, plays several instruments, and writes most of his own songs! As if that weren't enough, Boneta—who memorably serenaded our readers with Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad"— has just been cast in the highly anticipated movie-musical "Rock of Ages," starring Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin!

Esperanza Spalding, 26

Sure, she beat Justin Bieber for Best New Artist at this year's Grammys (making her the first Jazz artist to win the award), but that's not why we think Esperanza is one of the next big ones. Best known as a jazz bassist and singer, Esperanza is a multi-instrumentalist who taught herself how to play the violin at the age of five! At 15, she was already a concertmaster. She also plays the piano, clarinet, violin, oboe and bass, and sings in three languages: English, Spanish and Portugese. Her 2010 album, Chamber Music Society, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Albums chart in 2011, and she recently wrapped a tour with Prince. Plus, the most important man in the free world, President Barack Obama, is a fan. Unlike the Bieber fever, there's no cure for our love of Esperanza!

Demi Lovato, 18

Most Disney stars don't inspire rappers like Timbaland to write songs specifically for them, but then, Demi Lovato isn't your typical Disney star. While she was in rehab getting treatement for physical and emotional issues, Timbaland created a  YouTube video and sent Demi this message: "Demi, I'm so ... I'm sitting here looking. Man, I'm just like, 'Wow.' You are amazing, girl." Timbaland isn't the only one who thinks Demi is brilliant. According to Disney, the part-Mexican actress/singer, who stars on the network's hit show Sonny With a Chance,  has the highest grossing album sales worldwide within the Hollywood Records family—thanks to her albums Don't Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009). Both albums debuted at #2 and #1, respectively, on the Billboard 200. Superstar? We think so.

Enrique Iglesias has perfected the optimal amount of facial stubble for that sexy rugged-yet-clean look, clearly knows how to wield the styling gel for a cool, tousled hairstyle, and cared enough to get the mole near his nose removed.

William Levy is the best Cuban thing since mojitos!” Ramirez exclaims. He makes sure to highlight his best assets: clean-shaven, chiseled jawline, soft lips, beautiful brows, and a flashy blue suit to show off his eyes.

Despite being 50, Antonio Banderas hasn’t let up in the grooming department. He’s as clean-shaven as ever, with a full head of hair that’s meticulously gelled back.

Smooth, radiant skin, a sexy haircut and stylish fashion sense (check out that fabulous scarf!) make Rodrigo Santoro a shoe-in for this metrosexual list.

This slugger has all his bases covered. Alex Rodriguez keeps his skin clear and stubble-free (on his face and chest!), his brows groomed, even his nails impeccably manicured.

Yes, his head is shaved and smooth, his eyebrows combed, and his facial hair carefully trimmed, but what really puts him at the top of this list: the man is wearing an ascot. Could Pitbull look more dapper?!
