We were very impressed by her own original twist on belly dancing moves and her captivating but unique tonal vitality. Isabel Mebarak Ripoll or better recognized as Shakira was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, on February 2, 1977. Shakira started her musical profession at age 12 and quickly captured fans all through Latin America when she won the 2001 Best Latin Pop Grammy for her "MTV Unplugged" album and many prestigious awards. She is a professional singer, songwriter, image model, musician, humanitarian person,
dancer and she performs barefoot most of her concerts and that’s really make her unique .
This year Shakira’s Waka Waka (This time for Africa), was selected as the official song for the exciting 2010 FIFA World Cup and it turned out to be a worldwide breaking hit. The song is full of energy, selling more than 4 million copies worldwide and becoming the biggest selling World Cup song of all time. She is also distinguished as one of the highest-selling Colombian artist of all time and 2nd most successful female Latin singer after Gloria Estefan.

On Salsa Circuit Top Ten
Latin Songs, Shakiras’s brand new single “Loca” made it to the number 3 spot. The video for Loca was shot this summer in Barcelona, Spain where Shakira revealed it’s one of her favourite cities in the world. Her magnificent charm , candid personality and sexiness while doing her trademark belly dancing was enough to have me dancing in no time. I’m sure I did not girate like Shakira but it sure was a good workout! Great song and we will see how it fares on our Weekly Top Ten.
